Tennis team state bound

The Fannin County High School tennis teams competed in the 7AA Region Tournament Tuesday, March 29, at the Rome Tennis Center at Berry College. The men’s team will advance to the AA State Playoffs after their 4-1 win over Coosa High School.

Rebels clobber Dade 17-3 in region battle

By John Spargo The Fannin County baseball Rebels hopped back into region play Tuesday, March 22, as they traveled to play Dade County. Fannin jumped on the Wolverines from the start and never looked back, breezing to a convincing 17-3 win.

Post season honors pile up for Fannin’s Davis, Ledford

Fannin County High School Lady Rebels basketball players Courtney Davis and Becca Ledford were chosen by the Georgia Basketball Coaches Association (GBCA) as First Team All-State selections. Davis and Ledford represented Fannin County in two of the twelve spots on the North team.

Lady Rebels beat Coosa in overtime

The Fannin County soccer Lady Rebels fought hard for a 3-2 win in overtime against the Coosa Lady Eagles Monday, March 14. Mazie Goble scored a goal with 17:38 left on the clock in the first half. Goble was assisted by Annabel Lillard. The Coosa Lady Eagles scored two goals within the first half.

Fannin downs Gordon Central

By John Spargo The Fannin County Rebels opened up a three-game region series with Gordon Central Tuesday, March 15, in Blue Ridge. Fannin got the bats going early and scored in bunches, jumping out to an early 10-0 lead and cruising to a 12-0 win over the Warriors.

Carder shines in mountain bike events

Fannin County student Aiden Carder competed in the opening round of the USA Cycling National Downhill Series held at Windrock Bike Park in Oliver Springs, Tennessee. The race was originally scheduled for Saturday, March 12; however, the snowfall postponed the race until the next day.

Pass, Pero, Pittman free throw winners

Taber Pass of Turtletown captured a statewide first place in the annual Knights of Columbus Free Throw Championship held at All Saints Catholic Church gym in Atlanta March 5. Pass was one of three local winners who competed in Atlanta. Pass won first place in the 11-year-old girls event.
