Copper Basin falls to district foe Whitwell in home opener

The Copper Basin Cougars started region 3-A play Friday, September 2, as they welcomed the Whitwell Tigers on a damp and misty night at Copper Basin High School. Whitwell’s offense scored first and their defense won the turnover battle, and the Tigers headed back home with a 50-0 win.

Fannin cross country team competes at Meeks Park

The Fannin County High School (FCHS) Cross Country team traveled to Meeks Park Friday, August 26 to compete. The girl’s team placed third with Lindsey Holloway taking home a medal for second place.

Fannin rolls over Pickens 38-12

The Fannin County High School football team earned their first win with a 38-12 victory over Pickens County at the Rebels first home game of the season. The Rebels started on offense as Corbin Davenport returned the ball for the Rebels. Davenport made a five yard gain after the initial return.

Fearless Forecasters set sights on title

By John Spargo The 2022 football season is finally here, and while it’s exciting to look ahead at the new season, let’s take a look back at the 2021 season and the exciting finish we had in the Fearless Football Forecasters (FFF).

Road trip to Gilmer County ends with 49-35 Rebel loss

The Fannin County High School Rebels traveled to Gilmer County for their second week match up against the Bobcats, only to fall 49-65 in a long-fought football game. The Rebels began the game on offense with sophomore Elijah Weaver at quarterback.

Lady Rebels post 9-5 win over Murray

Fannin County’s Lady Rebels softball team earned another region win against Murray County Thursday, August 25. The Lady Rebels started off hot with three quick outs, one of those a strike out. Natalie Herendon started as pitcher.

Cougars fall to Polk County in season opener

BY JOHN SPARGO   The Copper Basin Cougars kicked off their 2022 football season as they traveled to Benton to take on the Polk County Wildcats with the two schools battling it out for the 55th time in their series.

Win over North Murray kept Lady Rebels’ season perfect

The Fannin County Lady Rebels softball team remained undefeated in region play after a 4-3 win over North Murray Thursday, August 18. The first inning went scoreless for both teams.

Rebels suffer heart breaking loss

The Fannin County High School Rebels football team opened their season against the Union County Panthers Friday, August 19. After a long, rainy game, the Rebels took a seven to 14 loss to the Panthers. The Rebels began the first quarter on defense on the 29-yard line.

Copper Basin wins final preseason scrimmage

The Copper Basin Cougars had their final tun-eup before the 2022 season kicks off for keeps as they traveled to the Polk County High School jamboree Friday, August 12. Copper Basin took on Wartburg Central for one quarter and ended up with a 6-0 win.
