The Fannin County High School track team is continuing their streak by defeating region opponent Dade County as well as South Pittsburg, Cornerstone, Valley Head and North Sand High School Thursday, April 7, at Dade County High School.
The men’s team earned 222 points and the women’s team followed close with 213, outscoring all opponents by at least 100 points.
Riley Angel won first place in high jump, followed by Hayden Lynch in second.
Corbin Davenport long jumped for first place, also followed by Lynch for second.
Matthew Crowder threw for first place in discus for the men’s team accompanied by Dylan Collins in second. Crowder and Collins also came in first and second positions in the shot put event.
Chelsey Frye earned first place in discus for the woemn’s team with Joselyn Newton close behind in third.
Newton threw for first in shot put. Frye ended in third place as well.
The men’s team pulled out top two spots in the 3200 meter race with Zechariah Prater in first and Phoenix Leifer in second.
In the women’s 3200 meter races, Kristen Cipich earned first and Jaclyn Cracknell earned second.
Carlee Holloway earned first in the 100 meter hurdles race followed by teammate Shayla Peugh. Holloway and Peugh also earned the same respective positions in the 300 meter hurdles race.
Davenport ran the best time in the 100 meter race earning first for the FCHS Rebels.
The Fannin men’s 4x100, 4x200 and 4x400 team earned first in each of the races.
Prater and Lindsey Holloway earned first for both teams in the 1600 meter races.
Lynch as well as Airanna Galloway fought for first in the 400 meter races.
Leifer and Monica Cosentinto ran for first for each team in the 800 meter race.
The FCHS track teams will next compete Thursday, April 21, at 4 p.m. at Rabun County High School.
