FCMS Lady Rebels win title

The Fannin County Middle School eight grade girls team went undefeated in four games to win the FCA Christmas Tournament at the Fannin County Recreation Center. Paced by a 14-point effort from Maggie Ledford, the young Lady Rebels defeated Gilmer County 36-26 in the championship game.

Lady Rebels declaw Lady Cats 64-40

Gilmer County’s Lady Cats had their claws sharpened in hopes of springing a senior night surprise on Fannin County Saturday afternoon, January 8, in Ellijay. But it didn’t take the Lady Rebels long to remove those claws and take the spring out of the Lady Cats.

e nior nights have become a rite of passage during high school sporting events. The festivities have grown to be filled with fond farewells and memories of the past. Not so for the Fannin County Lady Rebels basketball teams, especially the last two.

Fannin falls to Jefferson Dragonettes

The Fannin County Lady Rebel basketball team came up short when they faced Region 8AAAA opponent the Jefferson Dragonettes Wednesday, December 29, in the Kelly King Holiday Classic basketball tournament. The Lady Rebels battled and kept the game close, but ultimately fell 64-44.

Lady Rebels top North Gwinnett

The Fannin County Lady Rebels fended off the North Gwinnett Lady Bulldogs basketball team in the first round of the Kelly King Holiday Classic tournament at  Lumpkin County High School Tuesday, December 28. Fannin led from the tip and never slowed down as they topped North Gwinnett 50-42.

Fannin goes 4-1

The Fannin County Rebels wrestling team traveled to Swain County, North Carolina, Wednesday, December 22, to compete in the Devil Duals. The Rebels fired on all cylinders and were able to go 4-1 on the day.

Cougars fall against Knights

The Copper Basin High School Cougar basketball lost a close one 57-56 Tuesday, December 14, when they battled the Bradley Knights. Both teams battled for all four quarters, with no one pulling too far ahead.

Fannin wrestling places fifth in Coal Mountain Classic

The Fannin County wrestling team traveled to North Forsyth High School for the Coal Mountain Classic. Fannin went into the competition short handed, with only nine of 14 wrestlers competing. The Rebels battled though and were able to finish fifth out of 12 teams.
Fannin County High School senior Seth Reece furthered his academic and athletic career Wednesday, December 15, when he signed with the United States Military Academy at West Point. Reece was celebrated by family and friends during the ceremony and is shown with his parents Karen and Greg Reece.

Reece signs with Army football

Fannin County High School (FCHS) senior Seth Reece is officially a Black Knight. Reece signed with Army football Wednesday, December 15, at the FCHS Cafeteria surrounded by family and friends. Reece had multiple offers, but ended up chosing the Army over the Air Force.
