Fannin wrestlers claim 515 championship

The Fannin County High School wrestling team earned the title of 515 Classic Champions Friday, December 2. The team combined two post wins over rivals UnionCounty, 57 to 21, and Gilmer County, 41 to 33. This win marked the first victory over Gilmer since 2003.

Lady Rebels beat Model

The Fannin County Lady Rebels earned their first region win with a 55 to 35 victory over the Model Blue Devils Tuesday, December 6. During the first quarter, Courtney Davis led the Lady Rebels with six points.

The newest inductees into the Fannin County Sports Hall of Fame were announced last Friday night at the high school gym.

Copper Basin’s Lady Cougars down CGLA

The Copper Basin Lady Cougars hosted Chattanooga Girls Leadership Academy Thursday, December 1, to start district play. Copper Basin got off to a crazy 37-0 lead in the opening quarter and never looked back, coasting to a 76-18 win.

The Fannin County High School wrestling team won their first home match Friday, December 2 against Swain County, North Carolina. Blake Summers, Cooper Moreland, Carson Collis, Tristan Siler, Drake Cantrell, Corbin Davenport, Christen Newberry and Logan Long all won their matches by pin.

Fannin County High School senior basketball player Ava Queen signed her letter of intent to further her athletic and academic career at Truett McConnell University (TMU) in Cleveland, Georgia, Thursday, December 1. Queen plans to pursue a degree in Business.

Cougars fall to powerful Dragons

On day two of the ETC Tournament, the Copper Basin Cougars matched up against Pickens County Monday, November 21, in Ellijay. Basin played hard, but fell behind early and played catch up the rest of the game, ultimately falling to the Dragons 67-26.

The Fannin Rebels basketball team earned a victory over the Copper Basin Cougars Tuesday, November 22, on the final night of the the ETC Tipoff Tournament played in Ellijay. For the Rebels, Ben Bloch started hot in the first quarter with ten points, and Jordan Richerson had five.

The Fannin Lady Rebels brought home a 65-32 victory over the Copper Basin Lady Cougars on the last day of the ETC Tipoff  Tournament Tuesday, November 22. During the first quarter, Courtney Davis and Ava Queen both earned the Lady Rebels seven points totaling a combined 14.

Rebels end season in Sweet 16

The Fannin County Rebels wrapped up their season with a 20-13 loss to the Callaway Cavaliers Friday, November 18, in the Sweet Sixteen state playoffs. A scoreless first quarter saw the two teams battle to a 0-0 tie. Bryson Holloway started the game by returning the kickoff to the 40 yard line.
