Fannin track & field takes first place

Fannin’s track and field teams took first place in their meet at Coahulla Creek (CC) against CC, Gilmer, Ringgold and Ridgeland Tuesday, March 28. The girls’ team took home 10 first place finishes. Ava Acker placed first in the 400 meter dash. Karli Sams took first in the 800 meter run.

Allen was stellar in basketball, football, soccer

By Mike Harper Avram Allen was elected as the Most Athletic male senior in the Fannin County High School class of 2005. In an era when specialization in athletics was becoming the norm, Avram played basketball four years, football two years and soccer four years during his high school days.

Fannin posts region victory over N. Murray

The Rebels baseball team posted another region win  over the North Murray Mountaineers 5-1 Saturday, March 25. Bristol Hughes led things off on the mound for Fannin. Hughes surrendered only one run with two hits and ten strikeouts over seven innings.

Bryant Meeks: One of Fannin’s strongest athletes

By Mike Harper Bryant Meeks was one of the strongest athletes who ever wore the blue and white of Fannin County High School. His exploits in the Rebel weight room were legendary. At Fannin, he set all-time school records in the bench press and squat weightlifting categories.

Fannin track, field teams shine in tri-meet

The Fannin County High School (FCHS) boys and girls track and field teams competed Thursday, March 16 against Calhoun High School (AAAAA) and Sonoraville High School (AAAA). The FCHS boys and girls both came in second with the boys missing first place by only 7 points.

Rebels roll over Murray in double header

The Rebels’ baseball team was back in action Saturday, March 18 as they defeated Murray County in a double header, 12-1 and 10-2. During the first game, Bryson Holloway, Carson Callihan and Conner Martin started the offensive momentum with runs in the first inning.

Fannin County Women’s soccer is off to a 3-5-2 start and are 3-3 in Region 7 AA.

Rebels dominate Gilmer Bobcats in 7-1 decision

The Rebels baseball team dominated the Gilmer County Bobcats 7-1, Monday, March 6. Bristol Hughes started on the mound for Fannin. During the first inning, the Rebels found three quick outs. Then, Carson Callihan doubled on a fly ball followed by Gaige Foster’s single.
