By John Spargo Copper Basin Cougar senior football player A.J. Fitchett recently signed papers to continue his football career at Union College in Barbourville, Kentucky, joining current Cougar and Bulldog signee Addison Hook, as well as former Cougar Bryson Grabowski.

Fannin weightlifters head to state competition

Fannin County High School hosted the Georgia Athletic Coaches Association (GACA) Area 5 Weight Lifting Competition and the Rebel weightlifters showed up and showed out. The team placed first in the competition over teams from Pepperell, Habersham, Lafayette, Ridgeland and Lumpkin.

Lady Cougars advance in post season tourney

The Copper Basin Lady Cougars looked to keep moving on in the postseason as they hosted South Pittsburg Friday, February 24. Looking to wrap up a spot in the regional semi-finals, Copper Basin used a stifling defense and made quick work of the Lady Pirates 45-33.

Lady Rebels’ season ends

The Fannin County Women’s basketball team wrapped up their 20-9 season in the Sweet Sixteen with a 79 to 55 loss the Landmark Christian Academy (LCA). The Lady Rebels put in 13 points during the first quarter. Senior Ellie Cook led with a long shot for three and a basket for two.

Copper Basin advances with win over Lookout Valley

By John Spargo Copper Basin’s boys basketball looked to end the district tournament on a good note as they took on Lookout Valley Thursday, February 16 in Chattanooga. The Cougars got off to a great start in the first half and never trailed, outclassing the Yellow Jackets 66-35.

Lady Cougars fall to Sale Creek in tourney title game

By John Spargo The Copper Basin Lady Cougars looked to wrap up another District 5 Class A Tournament title Friday, February 17, as they took on Sale Creek at Copper Basin High School. The game stayed close for all four quarters, but the Lady Panthers pulled away late to upset Copper Basin 33-30.

Rebels win state titles: team second

The Fannin County Rebel wrestlers made their marks at the GHSA Traditional State Championships in Macon, Georgia, Februaruy 16, 17 and 18. Eight of 12 State Qualifiers placed on the podium making it the single greatest program performance at the state tournament.
