Fannin wrestlers claim 515 championship

    The Fannin County High School wrestling team earned the title of 515 Classic Champions Friday, December 2.

    The team combined two post wins over rivals UnionCounty, 57 to 21, and Gilmer County, 41 to 33. This win marked the first victory over Gilmer since 2003.

    Head Coach Chuck Patterson said, “All the kids wrestled really hard and brought the intensity it takes to win against a formidable opponent.”

    He continued to explain that beating Gilmer “was a preseason goal of theirs... now that they have done it, our eyes are turning to the rest of December and our Area Tournament the first weekend in January.”
