Copper Basin advances with win over Lookout Valley

By John Spargo Copper Basin’s boys basketball looked to end the district tournament on a good note as they took on Lookout Valley Thursday, February 16 in Chattanooga. The Cougars got off to a great start in the first half and never trailed, outclassing the Yellow Jackets 66-35.

Lady Cougars fall to Sale Creek in tourney title game

By John Spargo The Copper Basin Lady Cougars looked to wrap up another District 5 Class A Tournament title Friday, February 17, as they took on Sale Creek at Copper Basin High School. The game stayed close for all four quarters, but the Lady Panthers pulled away late to upset Copper Basin 33-30.

Rebels win state titles: team second

The Fannin County Rebel wrestlers made their marks at the GHSA Traditional State Championships in Macon, Georgia, Februaruy 16, 17 and 18. Eight of 12 State Qualifiers placed on the podium making it the single greatest program performance at the state tournament.

Copper Basin High School Senior Addison Hook is making big plans for his future as he signed a Letter of Intent Wednesday morning, February 1, to play football for Union College in Barbourville, Kentucky.

Rebel wrestlers capture Traditional championship

The Fannin County Wrestling traveled to Union County Saturday, February 4 and secured the title of Area 8AA Traditional Champions The Rebels team scored 190 points for the win over Banks’ 147, East Jackson’s 125 and Union’s 120.5.

Free throw champions headed to state

Five girls and six boys from Fannin County and Polk County communities have earned the distinction of District Champions in the 2023 Knights of Columbus statewide Free Throw Championship. This contest is offered to children ranging in age from nine to fourteen years old.

The Copper Basin Lady Cougars came into Friday night’s game looking to repeat as the District 5-A champions as they hosted Sale Creek January 27 at Copper Basin High School.

Lady Rebels post 59-43 win over region foe Model

The Lady Rebels put up a big 59 to 43 region win against Model High School Tuesday, January 24. The Lady Rebels started hot with a 21 point opening quarter. Ellie Cook led the Lady Rebels with six point from a three, a two, and a free throw.

The Fannin County Lady Rebels secured their fifth region win with a 41 to 33 victory over Haralson County High School. During the first quarter, the Lady Rebels were hot from the three point line. Riley Reeves had two threes, Macy Hawkins had one three and Ellie Cook had a three and a two.
