The Fannin County Rebels never trailed in their 67-45 region victory over Coosa, Friday, January 24. Hudson Ethington scored 26 points to lead the Rebels. The Rebels outscored Coosa 19-9 in the first quarter and led 31-20 at halftime to secure the win.

Lady Rebels win 79-54

An Avi Ethington and Reese Lewis double-double combined with 12 points from Izzie Jabaley led the Fannin County Lady Rebels basketball team to a 79-54 victory over Chattooga, Saturday, January 18. Trailing 21-14, Chattooga went on a seen-point run to tie the game early in the second quarter.

Rebels fall in OT

The Fannin County Rebels basketball team lost a region battle to Chattooga, 61-53 in overtime Saturday, January 18. Kolton Kaylor put up a career high 39 points, grabbed 12 rebounds and made eight of 12 free throws for the Rebels, but his efforts weren’t enough to secure the win.

Hyatt’s 27 sparks CB win

Alexis Hyatt kept the nets hot with 18 first quarter points as Copper Basin’s Lady Cougars rolled to a 79-33 win over the Lady Eagles from the Chattanooga School for the Liberal Arts (CSLA). The Lady Cougars hosted CSLA Tuesday, January 7.

Rebels post 55-48 region victory over Gordon Lee

The Fannin County Rebels defeated region opponent Gordon Lee, 55-48, Tuesday, January 7, as Kolton Kaylor scored 20 points and grabbed 13 rebounds. Trailing 16-11 late in the first quarter, the Rebels went on a 10-point run to take the lead and had a strong first half, leading 27-23 at halftime.

Fannin posts region victory

The Fannin County Lady Rebels earned another region win with a 45-32 victory over Gordon Lee, Tuesday, January 7, as Maggie Ledford led the effort with 17 points. The Lady Rebels controlled the game from the opening tip, never giving up the lead.

Henson posts double-double in loss

The Fannin County Rebels lost to Union County, 71-63, Saturday, January 4, despite a double-double from Brody Henson, scoring 10 points and grabbing 11 rebounds, and Keaton Watkins scoring 17 points. Union County jumped out to a first quarter lead.

Ethington, Jabaley spark comeback win

Fannin County’s Lady Rebels entered the final eight minutes of their battle against Union County’s Lady Panthers trailing 37-28 Saturday, January 4. But in those eight minutes, Fannin would outscore the visitors to the Fannin County High School (FCHS) gym for a 48-44 win.

The honor was announced Saturday between Fannin County’s basketball games against Union County. Present for the recognition were, from left, Katie Collins Taylor and her son Henry, Ashley Herendon Weeks, Melissa Holler Patton, Leslie Jabaley Mann, Kim Jones Ware, Roxie Reed Travato and her Daughter Riley, Coach Eddie Payne and Head Coach Johnny Farmer.

Fannin County Sports Hall of Fame class named

This year’s inductees into the Fannin County Sports Hall of Fame were introduced Saturday at the Fannin County High School gymnasium in between the varsity basketball games against visiting Union County.

Lady Cougars fall short in tourney

Copper Basin’s Lady Cougars had tough outings on the two final nights of the Piedmont Mountainside Holiday Classic tournament, falling to both Gilmer and Lumpkin counties. Friday night, December 20, Copper Basin squared off with the Gilmer County Lady Cats in the Fannin County High School gym.
