Rebels runners up in Holiday Classic tourney

The Fannin County Rebels basketball team earned the title of tournament runners up when they fell short 63-52 against Gilmer County, Saturday, December 21, in the Piedmont Mountainside tournament. Kolton Kaylor and Hudson Ethington both lead with 11 points each.

Lady Rebels win tourney title

The Fannin County Lady Rebels defeated Gilmer County, 55-50, after a back and forth battle Saturday, December 21, winning the Piedmont Mountainside Holiday Classic Championship. Maggie Ledford lead the Lady Rebels with 17 points.

Basin closer as Fannin posts second victory

The second meeting this year between Fannin County’s Lady Rebels and Copper Basin’s Lady Cougars started and ended the same as the first. But the end at the Fannin County gym Tuesday, December 17, was much closer than fans witnessed on Copper Basin’s home court less than a week earlier.

Fannin dominates Copper Basin

The results were the same when Fannin County and Copper Basin squared off on the basketball court for thee second time this season. Basin’s Cougars received a rude welcoming in Blue Ridge Tuesday, December 17, as the Rebels poured in over 70 points for the second time in less than a week.

Three honored as state champs

A trio of Fannin County High School weight lifters who have claimed state championships were honored Tuesday night, December 17. Sam McGill, Cooper Born and Case Holloway were all presented their state championship rings during the basketball games between Fannin County and Copper Basin.

23-point second paces Fannin win

A 23-point run in the second quarter by the Fannin County Rebels was too much for Copper Basin’s Cougars to overcome in basketball action Friday night in the Copper Basin gym. The visitors from across the state line used a stingy defense in the opening quarter to come out with an 11-5 lead.

Lewis leads Fannin with 21

Fannin County and Copper Basin were close on the scoreboard during the first few trips up and down the court Friday night at the Copper Basin gym. At the 4:20 mark in the first quarter, the hosts held a 4-2 lead. Fannin came back, and the game was tied 5-5 with 3:22 to go in the quarter.

Ensley, Rogers head for softball’s next level

Two Fannin County High School star athletes who played softball for the Lady Rebels have signed Letters of Intent to continue playing at the next level while furthering their education. Callie Ensley is headed to Walters State in Morristown, Tennessee, where she will play for the Senators.

Lady Rebels post second region win

The Fannin County High School Lady Rebels took their second region win, 56-45, Saturday, December 7, in a battle with Armuchee High School. Maggie Ledford and Reese Lewis lead the Lady Rebels as Lewis scored 10 points and grabbed 10 rebounds while Ledford scored 16 points.

Rebels turn back region opponent Armuchee 81-50

The Fannin Rebels basketball team pocketed a huge 81-50 region victory over Armuchee High School, Saturday, December 7. Hudson Ethington led the Rebels with 24 points. The Rebels had a strong first half, leading 45-30 at halftime and never looked back, securing the victory.
