Copper Basin turns back Whitwell

Copper Basin’s Cougars put a win under their belts Monday night, January 20, when they traveled to Whitwell and came home with a 57-34 victory.

The Cougars came out strong to take a 16-13 lead at the end of the first quarter behind the shooting of Drew Crowder, Talon Smith and Carder Lance. Crowder and Smith each scored five points while Lance scored four.

The second stanza continued to go the Cougars’ way as Lance tossed in seven points on the way to a 12-point quarter and a 28-22 halftime lead. The final half belonged to Copper Basin as they outscored their hosts 29-12.

Lance led Copper Basin with 25 points followed by Smith who had 15. Crowder and AJ Pero added six points each while Carson Parris added three points and Darrius Harris added a third quarter field goal.
