Cross Country teams shine at state

The Fannin County High School (FCHS) girls and boys cross country teams returned from state championship competition Friday, November 8, with top 10 finishes. The girls team was the Runner-up in the Georgia High School Association A-Division 1 meet.
The Riverwalk Run Series is a group of three, 5K races that covers two states and attracts a wide variety of runners. This group has just left the starting line at the November 2 Bigfoot Boogie.

Bigfoot Boogie sets new series record

Fannin County runners made their presence known in the Big Foot Boogie November 2 when they took victories in two of the age groups. Eric Woods, of Morganton, claimed the first place trophy in the Male 50-59 age group with a time of 23:17.

The boys and girls Cross Country (XC) teams from Fannin County have both earned the right to compete in the Georgia High School Association State Championships.

Rebels record perfect season with 30-27 win

The Fannin County High School Rebels walked off their home turf in Blue Ridge Friday night with an undefeated 10-0 season, the Region Championship and Head Coach Chad Cheatham’s 52nd win at FCHS. The Rebels recorded these accomplishments after taking a 30-27 victory over the Gordon Lee Trojans.

Sectionals next stop for XC teams

The next stop for the Fannin County High School (FCHS) boys and girls cross country teams is the Georgia High School Association (GHSA) 1A Division 1 sectional meet. The event is scheduled for Saturday, November 2, when the FCHS teams will compete against others from regions 5, 6, 7 and 8.

Former Fannin County Rebel and current Cumberland Phoenix quarterback Luke Holloway was recently named NAIA Offensive Player of the Week, as well as the Mid-South Conference Offensive Player of the Week, after leading the Phoenix to a huge win over number four ranked Bethel October 12.
Carson Callihan (#25) has powered through opposing defenses all season for the Fannin County Rebels, as he does here in action earlier this year. Friday night the Rebel senior gained 301 yards in a game that pitted the last two undefeated teams in 7-A Division 1 against each other.

Rebels perfect record in tact at 9-0

Another Friday night and  another football game added up to another lopsided victory handed out by the Fannin County High School Rebels. The Rebels rolled up win number nine in a row as they posted a 48-21 decision over the  Christian Heritage High School Lions in Dalton.

56-6 win makes eight straight for Rebels

The Fannin County Rebels football team earned their eighth consecutive victory last Friday night, October 18, this one coming over the Armuchee Indians by a score of 56-6.
