Hudson Ethington made the most of what would be his final regular season game in front of hometown fans, scoring 21 points to lead Fannin County to a 70-34 win over the Gordon Lee Trojans.
The Rebels celebrated Senior Night when they hosted Gordon Lee Friday, Janaury 31. Ethington and Jack Sparks are the only two seniors on this year’s team.
Sparks scored 10 points in the effort, which marked Fannin County’s 15th win against only seven losses this season.
The Rebels never trailed in the game, and their biggest lead was 40 points.
Ethington scored 12 points in the first quarter as Fannin County jumped out to a 28-7 advantage at the end of the first eight minutes. A strong first half from the Rebels allowed them to lead 38-18 at halftime.
As a team, the Rebels played stifling defense, blocking eight shots, grabbing 13 steals and 32 rebounds. Keaton Watkins led the team with seven rebounds.
The team also passed the ball well with 14 assists on 30 made baskets. Matthew Ponton led the team with five assists.
Ethington’s 21 points led the offense followed by Kolton Kaylor with 14 points, Sparks’ 10 points, Ponton scoring seven points, Watkins with six points, Avery Angel putting in five points, Holden Eavenson with three points and Cannon Holloway and Kylan Dover with two points each.
