The Fannin County Rebels basketball team lost a region battle to Chattooga, 61-53 in overtime Saturday, January 18.
Kolton Kaylor put up a career high 39 points, grabbed 12 rebounds and made eight of 12 free throws for the Rebels, but his efforts weren’t enough to secure the win.
Leading 20-15, Chattooga went on an eight-point run to pull further away in the second quarter. The game was tied at 49 when Chattooga went on a 12-2 run to take the lead in overtime.
The Rebels rebounded the ball well, collecting 44 rebounds and stood tall, blocking four shots. Kaylor led the team with 12 rebounds and three blocks. The team also passed the ball well with nine assists on 19 made baskets.
Fannin scorers were Kaylor with 39 points, Jack Sparks added six points, Keaton Watkins and Cannon Holloway added three points each and Hudson Ethington and Matthew Ponton both added one point.
School closings due to the hazardous road conditions forced the Rebels January 14 game against Gordon Central to be moved to this Saturday, January 25. Fannin County will host Gordon Central with varsity games starting at 2:30 p.m
