Lewis leads Fannin with 21

Fannin County and Copper Basin were close on the scoreboard during the first few trips up and down the court Friday night at the Copper Basin gym. At the 4:20 mark in the first quarter, the hosts held a 4-2 lead. Fannin came back, and the game was tied 5-5 with 3:22 to go in the quarter.

Ensley, Rogers head for softball’s next level

Two Fannin County High School star athletes who played softball for the Lady Rebels have signed Letters of Intent to continue playing at the next level while furthering their education. Callie Ensley is headed to Walters State in Morristown, Tennessee, where she will play for the Senators.

Lady Rebels post second region win

The Fannin County High School Lady Rebels took their second region win, 56-45, Saturday, December 7, in a battle with Armuchee High School. Maggie Ledford and Reese Lewis lead the Lady Rebels as Lewis scored 10 points and grabbed 10 rebounds while Ledford scored 16 points.

Rebels turn back region opponent Armuchee 81-50

The Fannin Rebels basketball team pocketed a huge 81-50 region victory over Armuchee High School, Saturday, December 7. Hudson Ethington led the Rebels with 24 points. The Rebels had a strong first half, leading 45-30 at halftime and never looked back, securing the victory.

All region honors pour in for Fannin Rebels

The Fannin County Rebels stellar 2024 football season has resulted in a host of individual honors. These include Coach of the Year, Co-Offensive Player of the Year, Athlete of the Year and 21 other all region honors for Region 7A, Division 2 Head Coach Chad Cheatham was named Coach of the Year.

Lewis gets double double as Lady Rebels pick up first season victory

The Fannin Lady Rebels basketball team pocketed their first win of the year with a 67-62 victory over the Lumpkin County Lady Indians Saturday, November 30, on the Lady Indians home court. The game was tied at 10 when Lumpkin County went on a 13-1 run to take the lead.

Fannin’s season ends in Elite Eight

The Fannin County High School Rebels football team wrapped up their 2024 season with a 39-48 playoff loss against the Northeast High School Raiders out of Macon, Georgia, in the Elite Eight match up between the two Class A powerhouses, Friday, November 29.

Lady Cougars post win over Hiwassee Dam

A trio of Copper Basin Lady Cougars posted double figure performances in the team’s 56-50 come from behind win over arch rival Hiwassee Dam. The decision came Friday, November 22, on the Lady Eagles home court.

Fannin County Rebel wrestling Coach David Henson felt good about the team’s performance following a match with Lumpkin County Tuesday, November 19. Henson said, “It was a great dual against a quality opponent, and the mat time is needed to help our young guys learn and grow.
