Rebels post five runs in seventh to defeat Coosa

The Fannin County Rebels baseball team scored five runs in the seventh inning, which helped them defeat region opponent Coosa, 8-1, Tuesday, March 18.

Lady Cougars end historic season

The Copper Basin Lady Cougars’ history making basketball season came to an end Wednesday, March 12. The Lady Cougars squared off against the Richland Lady Raiders, the teams representing two of the final eight in the state basketball championship chase.

Commitment drives FCHS tennis team

When the Fannin County High School (FCHS) tennis team comes to the end of practice time, they often have one demand, coach Suzanne Pass said. “Hey, can you hit me one more?” This level of commitment drives the team to early-morning and weekend practices, she said.

Basin wins region

Kloie Ballew, Kendra Deal and Zoe Green took charge of the Copper Basin offense to lead the Lady Cougars to a 56-47 region championship win over the Lady Eagles from Van Buren County. The decision came Wednesday night at Polk County High School.

Copper Basin earns spot in state tourney

Copper Basin’s Lady Cougars earned the school’s first ever trip to the state basketball championship playoffs with a 57-49 win Saturday night. The Lady Cougars defeated the Lady Bulldogs from Clay County High School on Basin’s home court.

Record season ends in Elite 8

The Fannin County Rebels fell to BEST Academy Eagles, 69-43, as Kolton Kaylor scored 21 points Wednesday, February 26. The loss ended the record setting season for the Rebels who had earned a spot in the Elite Eight game for the first time in school history.

Lady Rebels earn state title shot with 72-63 win

The Fannin County Lady Rebels earned their spot in this Saturday’s State Basketball Championship showdown with their 72-63 defeat of the East Laurens Lady Falcons. The victory came Saturday, March 1, in the Final Four matchup at Georgia College and State University.

Fannin boys take first in 4 x 400 meter

The Fannin County High School (FCHS) Boys and Girls Track & Field Teams competed on Wednesday, February 26, 2025, at Creekview High School against over 600 athletes from Creekview, Sequoyah, West Forsyth, Pickens, and Cambridge high schools.
