Lady Rebels fall in first game

The Lady Rebels softball team opened their season on their home field Tuesday, August 8, against the Coahulla Creek High School (CCHS) Lady Colts. The Lady Rebels weren’t able to come back after CCHS took an early lead.

UT standout pays tribute to her dad

Ashley Rogers has never forgotten the role her dad, Loring, played in her life. From his untimely  passing to the presentation of a signed softball at Copper Basin High School last week, Ashley has always credited her dad’s influence.

Very special golfers show off their skills

A group of very special athletes each kept their head down and their eyes on the ball Tuesday, July 25, as they competed in the Special Olympics Golf Skills Event.

Walk the Line 5K grows with change in schedule

The Walk the Line 5K, one of the races in the Riverwalk Run Series, brought over 160 runners and walkers to McCaysville Saturday, July 15, to traverse two states and two bridge. “It was a smashing success,” Matt Cole, the organizer of the series of races, said.

Fannin runners shine in Freedom 5K

Fannin County runners proved local competitors are tough to beat when over 500 runners converged on downtown Blue Ridge for the Freedom 5K on the morning of July 4. Contestants represented Georgia, Florida, Utah, Virginia and several other states in the annual event.
