The Fannin County High School (FCHS) boys and girls track and field teams competed Thursday, March 16 against Calhoun High School (AAAAA) and Sonoraville High School (AAAA).
The FCHS boys and girls both came in second with the boys missing first place by only 7 points.
Many FCHS track and field girls placed first in their respective events. This inlcuded the following: Ava Acker in the 400 meter dash, Lindsey Holloway in the 1600 meter run and 3200 meter run, Carlee Holloway in the 300 meter hurdles, the 4x200 meter relay race team consisting of Acker, Adia Galloway, Caylee Gaddis, and C. Holloway, the 4x400 meter relay team consisting of Acker, C. Holloway, L. Holloway, and Karli Sams, and the 4x800 meter relay team consisting of Gaddis, C. Holloway, L. Holloway, and Sams.
Many of the FCHS track and field boys placed first in their respective events including: Zechariah Prater in the 1600 meter run and 3200 meter run, Grayson Willis in the 110 meter hurdles, Tyler Stevenson in Pole Vault, Matthew Crowder in Shot Put, the 4x100 meter relay team consisting of Corbin Davenport, Willis, Stevenson, and Andrew Waldrep
Head Coach Miranda Roof also added that “the following FCHS track and field athletes continue to rank in the Georgia Top 50 in their respective event (all Georgia High School Association classifications included): L. Holloway in the 3200 meter run, Stevenson in Pole Vault and Crowder in Shot Put.”
