Fannin sees season end with pair of playoff losses

The Fannin County High School Rebels baseball team wrapped up their season in the GHSA state playoff match up against the Fellowship Christian School Paladins Monday, April 24, with two losses of 2-5 and 0-2. During the first game, the Rebels were off to a slow start.

Trout Trot draws over 140 runners

The annual Trout Trot, part of the Riverwalk Run Series, brought over 140 runners, with 111 finishing the 5K race through McCaysville and Copperhill this past Saturday, April 29. John Metzgar of Hayesville, North Carolina, was first to cross the finish line in a time of 19:37:7.

Fannin track and field teams capture medals

The Fannin County High School  track and field athletes traveled to Gordon Central High School for the Region 7AA meet Monday, April 25, and Tuesday, April 26. Fannin had 21 athletes qualify for the State Sectionals meet Saturday, May 6, at Rockmart High School.
Fannin County High School senior Ivy Hyde signed her letter of intent to continue her academic and athletic career as part of the Dalton State College (DSU) women’s soccer team. Hot bats keep Lady Cougars in winning ways

By John Spargo The Copper Basin Lady Cougars finally came home to play after a five-game road trip. One thing didn’t change however, and that was the hot bats that they’ve been swinging of late.

Rebels fall short at home

The Rebels baseball team hosted Haralson County for their last home region match up Tuesday, April 18. Fannin came off the field with a 7-2 loss. Haralson took a quick lead with three runs in the first inning while Fannin’s Clay Heaton fought for Rebel run.

Soccer season ends in playoffs

The Lady Rebels soccer team wrapped up their 2023 season with a 0-10 loss to Fellowship Christian School Thursday, April 13, in the first round of the Georgia High School Association State playoffs.

Fannin drops pair of games to region foe

The Fannin Rebels’ baseball team hosted region opponent Model for a doubleheader Thursday, April 13, and took two losses despite their efforts. The Rebels put up a fight during the first game, only to take a 4-5 loss.

Jordan Farmer youngest Hall of Fame member

By Mike Harper At the ripe old age of 31, Jordan Farmer becomes the youngest member of the Fannin County Sports Hall of Fame. He joins his father Johnny and uncles Gregg and Tony, as a member of the group honoring the best of the best athletes and coaches in the history of Fannin County.
