Fannin drops pair of games to region foe

The Fannin Rebels’ baseball team hosted region opponent Model for a doubleheader Thursday, April 13, and took two losses despite their efforts.

The Rebels put up a fight during the first game, only to take a 4-5 loss.

Fannin came out of the gate hot with three runs in the first inning by Bryson Holloway, Clay Heaton and Carson Callihan.

Gavin Davis started on the mound for the Rebels and pitched five innings facing 27 batters. Davis allowed seven hits over those five innings and five runs.

During the third, Model put their first two runs on the board and made the score 3-2.

The fifth inning saw Model take a lead after scoring three runs. Fannin answered with a run of their own by Callihan, but the Blue Devils were still ahead.

Bristol Hughes manned the mound during the last two innings facing nine batters only allowing two hits and no runs.

The Rebels couldn’t find home plate and Model took the win by one run.

During the second game of the day, Model carried their momentum over and Fannin lost 3-7.

Many Rebels fought for hits. Holloway, Hayden Danner and Gaige Foster made two each and Callihan, Gray, and Elijah Weaver made one.

Of those, three runs were scored by Holloway, Weaver and Danner’s courtesy runner Tucker Dockery.

Foster started as pitcher for the Rebels and threw for four innings facing 23 batters. Hughes finished on the mound for the Rebels pitching for two innings and facing 12 batters.

The Rebels will continue region play Tuesday, April 18, against Haralson County at 5:30 for Senior Night.
