All region honors pour in for Fannin Rebels

The Fannin County Rebels stellar 2024 football season has resulted in a host of individual honors.

These include Coach of the Year, Co-Offensive Player of the Year, Athlete of the Year and 21 other all region honors for Region 7A, Division 2

Head Coach Chad Cheatham was named Coach of the Year. Cheatham led the Rebels to their 12-2 season that ended in the Elite Eight round of the Georgia football championship playoffs.

Cheatham became the winningest football coach in school history when the Rebels beat Dade County 44-0, marking his 47th victory. He ended the year with 52 Rebel wins under his belt.

Carson Callihan was named the region’s Co-Offensive Player of the year. He was known all season for a punishing running style that broke tackles and gained yardage on second, third and even fourth efforts.

The Athlete of the Year honor went to Lawson Sullivan. Directing the Rebel offense from his quarterback spot, Sullivan was an ever present danger to opposing defenses both on the ground and through the air.

Twelve Rebels earned First Team All Region honors.

Named to the First Team Offense were wide receivers Ellijah Weaver and Braden Taylor and linemen Jacob Dye, Case Holloway and Jacob Green.

First Team Defense honors went to lineman Noah Burnett, outlide linebacker Luke Holsonback, inside linebackers CJ Reece and Cooper Born, and defensive backs Braden Taylor and Braxton Cheatham.

Matthew Ponton was named First Team Specialty Player.

Six Rebels earned Second Team honors.

Wide receiver Tucker Dockery and linemen Issac Watkins and Baylor Twiggs were named from the offense.

Named from the defense were lineman Cooper Hilliard, Scotty Waldrep from his outside linebacker position and defensive back Conrad Head.

Earning All Region Honorable Mention were wide receivers Cannon Holloway, Reid Holloway and Judah Wood.
