Ensley, Rogers head for softball’s next level

Two Fannin County High School star athletes who played softball for the Lady Rebels have signed Letters of Intent to continue playing at the next level while furthering their education.

Callie Ensley is headed to Walters State in Morristown, Tennessee, where she will play for the Senators.

Aaleyah Rogers will play for the Eagles at Reinhardt University in Waleska, Georgia.

Both signed with their respective schools in a ceremony Thursday, December 12, in the Fannin County High School gym.

The two seniors led the Lady Rebels to a 16-7 season record, a 9-5 region worksheet with a third place finish in Region 7, and a trip to post season play.

Ensley led the Lady Rebels in a host of categories. Her batting average of .473 was highest on the team. She also led with an on base percentage of .500, two home runs, 26 stolen bases, 35 hits and 28 runs batted in.

Rogers led the team with runs scored, crossing the plate 32 times. Her totals kept her right behind Ensley as she posted a batting average of .405, an on base percentage of .494, stole 20 bases and recorded 30 hits.

Both are headed to schools with impressive softball histories.

The Senators finished their 2024 season with a sixth place finish in the National Junior College Athletic Association tournament. This year marked their fifth appearance in tournament, having previously earned a spot in  2013, 2016 and 2018.

They also won the Tennessee Community College Athletic Association title for the fifth time in 2024 and were regular season champions with a 31-5 record.

Reinhardt’s Eagles were the 2024 Appalachian Athletic Association Champions, winning both the end of season tournament and the regular season title.
