The Fannin County Lady Rebels defeated Gilmer County, 55-50, after a back and forth battle Saturday, December 21, winning the Piedmont Mountainside Holiday Classic Championship.
Maggie Ledford lead the Lady Rebels with 17 points.
In the first quarter, the Lady Rebels out scored the Lady Cats 17-14, and at halftime, Fannin lead 28-22.
Emma Buchanan and Ledford each hit multiple three-pointers for Fannin. As a team, Lady Rebels controlled the paint, grabbing 33 rebounds. Lewis led the team with nine rebounds.
The Lady Rebels also passed the ball well with 14 assists on 18 made baskets. Izzie Jabaley led the team with six assists. Fannin stood tall, blocking three shots in the game.
Lady Rebels scorers were Ledford with 17 points Lewis adding 12 points, Buchanan and Avi Ethington with eight points, Jabaley adding seven points and Callie Ensley scoring three points.
Lady Rebels outscored Lumpkin 66-39, earning spot in title matchup
The Fannin County Lady Rebels basketball team defeated Lumpkin County, 66-39, Friday, December 20 to punch a ticket to the championship matchup in the Piedmont Mountainside Holiday Classic.
Reese Lewis and Izzie Jabaley teamed up to lead the Lady Rebels as Jabaley scored 11 points and grabbed 10 rebounds while Lewis scored 20 points.
After leading 12-9 in the first quarter, the Lady Rebels went on a 14-point run to pull further away coming out of the half leading 35-17.
As a team, the Lady Rebels rebounded the ball well, collecting 34 rebounds. Jabaley led the team with 10 rebounds. The Lady Rebels also passed the ball well with 12 assists on 26 made baskets. Fannin scorers were Lewis with 20 points, Jabaley with 11 points, Ledford adding 10 points, Avi Ethington putting up six points, Saidee Patton scoring five points, Emma Buchanan, Emma Holloway and Albany Cole with four points each and Callie Ensley adding two points.
