A trio of Fannin County High School weight lifters who have claimed state championships were honored Tuesday night, December 17.
Sam McGill, Cooper Born and Case Holloway were all presented their state championship rings during the basketball games between Fannin County and Copper Basin.
McGill claimed his state title in the 190-pound division.
Born brought home his championship in the 205-pound weight class.
Holloway was the best in the state in the heavyweight division.
Weightlifting coaches Chris Thigpen and Wade Woodall said, “The weight room will take everything from you and will give you nothing in return. It teaches discipline and endurance. It is fueled by dedication and perseverance. The weight room isn’t for everyone. Then again, neither is winning. Great job, men.”
