Fannin Rebels claim Sweet Sixteen finish

The Fannin County Rebels wrestling team competed in the first round of the state playoffs Saturday, January 23, as the Rebels looked to advance to the Elite Eight. Fannin County faced Glenn Hill Academy in the first round and was able to top Spartans 76-6 to advance to the Sweet-16.

The Copper Basin Lady Cougars traveled to Sale Creek Friday, January 22, to take on the Lady Panthers. The Lady Cougars battled hard, but fell to Sale Creek 50-32.

The Copper Basin Cougars faced off against the Sale Creek Panthers Friday, January 22, at Sale Creek. The Cougars battled for four quarters and were able to hold off the Panthers for a 48-41 region victory.

The Fannin County Lady Rebels put on a scoring clinic Friday, January 22, against region opponent, the Coosa Lady Eagles. The Lady Rebels netted 74 points in the contest as they topped Coosa 74-21.

The Fannin County Rebels basketball team grinded out a hard-fought 61-58 win Saturday, January 23, against a tough Dade County team. The Rebels started out hot in the first quarter, outsourcing the Wolverines 18-8.

Rebels finish Runner-Up in Area Duals

The Fannin County High School wrestling team hosted Banks County and Union County Friday, January 15, for Area 8AA Duals. The Rebels faced off against Union County in the first match and were able to easily handle the Panthers 59-15 to advance to the finals against Banks County.

The Copper Basin Cougars had an impressive season, and were primed to make a deep playoff run before injuries set in and prevented the Cougars from doing so. Recently, the 1A Region 3 All State and All Region players were announced, with multiple Cougars on the roster.
