Lady Rebels win streak continues

The Fannin County Lady Rebels increased their win streak to seven games Tuesday, January 26, as they topped a tough Gordon Central team 61-51.The Lady Rebels are now 7-0 in region play, leading AA Region 7.

The Lady Rebels tallied 13 points in the first quarter as Courtney Davis knocked in a three ball. Becca Ledford, Paige Foresman, Mackenzie Johnson and Reagan York scored a two-point basket each, while Natalie Thomas converted two free throws. The Lady Warriors netted 10 points in the first as they trailed Fannin 13-10.

The Lady Rebels continued to spread the ball around offensively in the second as Becca Ledford netted four points on two, two-point buckets. Thomas drained a long-range three ball, while Olivia Sisson, York and Davis scored a two-point basket each for a 13-point second quarter. The Lady Warriors scored 12 points as Fannin clinged to a 26-22 lead at halftime.

Fannin County exploded for 22 points in the third quarter as Davis led the Lady Rebels with seven points on a three ball and two, two-point baskets. Thomas drained two, three-point baskets and Johnson got two, two-point buckets to fall. Abby Ledford rattled in a long-range three ball, while Becca Ledford and York converted a free throw to cap the scoring for Fannin. Gordon Central scored 17 points in the third as the Lady Rebels increased their lead 48-39.

Johnson took over for Fannin in the fourth quarter, scoring 10 points on a two-point bucket and eight free throws. York got a three-point bucket to fall as well to give the Lady Rebels a 13-point fourth quarter.

The Lady Warriors scored 12 points in the fourth as Fannin was able to hang on and get a 61-51 region win to remain undefeated in region play.

The Lady Rebels are currently ranked eighth in  the Georgia AA classification.
