Rebels’ 11 strike-outs not enough in Lumpkin loss

The Fannin County Rebels battled the Lumpkin County Indians Monday, February 22, and fought hard in the game, but fell just short as the Indians escaped with a 8-5 win. Logan Hughes started on the hill for the Rebels, pitching three innings and sitting down six batters.

Summers first freshman state champ

Fannin County High School freshman Blake Summers comes from a long line of talented wrestlers, which helped him gain experience, and win the Region 8-AA individual State Championship.

Lady Cougars to compete for district title

The Copper Basin Lady Cougars topped the Sale Creek Lady Panthers 38-25 to punch their ticket to the District Championship game against Tellico. The Lady Cougars played well from the start, outscoring the Lady Panthers 10-4 in the first quarter.

Lady Rebels top Chattooga for region title

The Fannin County Lady Rebels put on a show in the second half of the region championship game against Chattooga Thursday, February 18, to win the game 68-39  and claim their first AA Region 7 Champions title since 1999.

Rebels season ends with loss to Coosa Eagles

The Fannin Rebels’ season ended in heartbreaking fashion Friday, February 12, as the Coosa Eagles got a two-point basket to drop in the final second of the game to give them a two-point lead and the win, topping the Rebels 46-44.

Rebels bring home state title

The Fannin County Rebels wrestling team closed their season with the high school’s first state title since 1998, Thursday, February 11, in the GHSA Wrestling State Tournament in Macon, Georgia.
