Bundy signs scholarship with Liberty University

Fannin County Rebel offensive lineman Mason Bundy, a three star recruit, decided to further his academic and athletic career Wednesday, December 16, by signing a scholarship to play under Hugh Freeze at Liberty University in Lynchburg, Virginia.

Panter shines at Junior PGA Championship

Local golfer and Fannin County resident Lainey Panter recently competed in the 2020 Georgia Junior PGA Championship, finishing in a tie for second in the tournament. The event was held at Sea Palms Golf Club in St. Simons, Georgia, December 5 and 6.

Fannin County battles back

The Fannin County Rebels found themselves down early in their home game against Union County Saturday, December 12, but was able to battle back from a 17-0 deficit to win the game 50-49. It was all Union County early in the first as the Rebel could not buy a basket.

Lady Rebels win

The Fannin County Lady Rebels battled the Union County Lady Panthers Saturday, December 12, and were able to get the win with help from freshman Courtney Davis, who put up 19-points. Fannin erupted in the first out-scoring the Lady Panthers 20-8.

Rebels historic season comes to an end

The Fannin County Rebel football team’s historic season came to a close Friday, December 11, as the number seventh ranked team in Region AA, fell to the number one team, the Fitzgerald Hurricanes 48-14. Electric described the atmosphere before the kickoff at 7:30 p.m.

The Fannin County Rebel football team was recently recognized for making the 7AA All Region Team.

Lady Cougars fall to Polk

The Copper Basin Lady Cougars hosted in-county rival the Polk County Lady Cats Thursday, December 3. Polk County jumped out to an early lead, but the Lady Cougars started climbing back into the game in the later quarters. Polk County was able to hold on to win the game 54-23.

Rebels fall to Lions

The Fannin County Rebel boys basketball team hosted the Christian Heritage Lions Thursday, December 3. The Rebels played well, but a fast start by the Lions was enough to give them a 68-45 victory over Fannin.

Lady Rebel defense key in Christian Heritage win

The Fannin County Lady Rebels continued their winning streak as they handled Christian Heritage 48-31 Tuesday, December 3. The Lady Rebels had an eight-point first quarter as Natalie Thomas drained a long-range three pointer, followed by Abby Ledford and Reagan York netted a two-point basket each.

Rebels top Heard for Elite Eight spot

The Fannin County Rebel football team punched their ticket to the Elite Eight of the Georgia State Playoffs Friday, December 4, as they pulled out a nail biting 21-14 win in front of a packed stadium over the Heard County Braves.
