Fannin Rebels claim Sweet Sixteen finish

The Fannin County Rebels wrestling team competed in the first round of the state playoffs Saturday, January 23, as the Rebels looked to advance to the Elite Eight. Fannin County faced Glenn Hill Academy in the first round and was able to top Spartans 76-6 to advance to the Sweet-16.

The Rebels faced Lovett High School in the Sweet 16 and fell to a tough Lions team 44-30. The Sweet 16 in dual team action was one step further than the Rebels made it last year.

Undefeated wrestlers on the day included Blake Summers, Kainan Henson, Corbin Davenport, McCay Turner, Colby Shaw and Logan Long. The Rebels look to return next year to go even further as they have a talented group of sophomore and freshman wrestlers returning next season. The Rebels will now prepare for the individual portion of the postseason.
