FCMS Lady Rebels win title

    The Fannin County Middle School eighth grade Lady Rebels won the FCA Christmas Tournament by going undefeated.     The Fannin County Middle School eight grade girls team went undefeated in four games to win the FCA Christmas Tournament at the Fannin County Recreation Center.

    Paced by a 14-point effort from Maggie Ledford, the young Lady Rebels defeated Gilmer County 36-26 in the championship game.

    Reese Lewis also posted a double-digit effort in the game with ten points. She was followed by Izzie Jabaley with seven, Avi Ethington with three and Lexi Gravely with two points.

    The previous night the girls defeated Union County to earn the right to battle for the title.

    The four wins from the Christmas tournament boosted the eighth grade team’s regular season record from 11-1 to 15-1.

    The Christmas tournament was played December 27 through 29 at the rec center.

    Following the tournament, the girls had three regular season games left on their schedule, facing Pickens, Lumpkin and Union counties. Those were all scheduled for this week.
