Rockmart too tough for Lady Rebels

The Lady Rebels softball team competed against region opponent the Rockmart Lady Jackets and fell 8-0.

During the first inning, the Lady Rebels got three quick out as Natalie Herendon struck out the first two and then Zoe Putnam caught the third. This, however, continued when Rockmart also earned three back-to-back outs on the Lady Rebels.

The Lady Jackets found some offensive momentum and scored four runs in the second inning. The Lady Rebels looked to fight back but couldn’t find any momentum of their own, making the score 4-0.

The third inning remained scoreless for both teams as Herendon pitched a strike out, and Putnam and Jayden Bailey caught the other two outs. The Lady Rebels got a few hits, but they fell right into the hands of a Lady Jacket.

Rockmart earned two more run in the fourth inning and got three quick outs on the Lady Rebels making the score six to zero at the end of the fourth.

The fifth inning went scoreless after the Lady Rebels fought hard for three outs. Putnam hit a single, but she couldn’t find home plate before three outs.

Finally in the sixth inning, the Lady Jackets finalized their lead by scoring two more runs to the Lady Rebels zero.

The Lady Rebels are now 3-4 in region play and will be back in action Tuesday, September 13, against Gordon Central.
