Rebels fall to Lions

The Fannin County Rebel boys basketball team hosted the Christian Heritage Lions Thursday, December 3. The Rebels played well, but a fast start by the Lions was enough to give them a 68-45 victory over Fannin.

Kaeden Twiggs and Tucker Hanson led the Rebels in the first quarter, as both combined for 10-points. Twiggs scored five points on two, two-point baskets and a free throw, while Hanson scored a three ball and two-point bucket.

Bennett rattled in a two-point basket as well to cap a 12-point first quarter for Fannin. The Lions netted 24 points in the first as they led 24-12.

The Rebels were able to outscore the Lions 14-13 in the second quarter as Landon Norton heated up for seven points on a three ball and two, two-point baskets. Hanson knocked in another three-point bucket, followed by Nick Arp and Twiggs making a two-point basket each. The effort was enough to slice into the Lions lead as Christian Heritage led 37-26 at halftime.

Twiggs led the Rebels in the third quarter, scoring two, two-point baskets for four points. Arp and Norton scored a two-point bucket each to cap an eight point third quarter for the Rebels as the Lions put up 16 points to lead 53-34 at the end of the third.

Fannin spread the scoring around in the fourth as Riley Angel, Lucas Hanson, Arp, Norton and Bennett scored a two-point bucket each for 10 points. Gabe Walz converted one free throw to cap a 11-point quarter for the Rebels.

The Lions scored 15 points in the fourth as they topped Fannin 68-45.
