Lady Rebels win

The Fannin County Lady Rebels battled the Union County Lady Panthers Saturday, December 12, and were able to get the win with help from freshman Courtney Davis, who put up 19-points.

Fannin erupted in the first out-scoring the Lady Panthers 20-8.

Reagan York, Becca Ledford and Davis combined for 15 points in the quarter with Davis and Ledford making a three ball and a two-point bucket each. York went to work in the paint scoring five points on two, two-point baskets and a free throw.

Natalie Thomas netted a three ball, and Mackenzie Johnson scored a two-point basket to end the first quarter with a 20-8 Lady Rebel lead.

Fannin went cold in the second quarter as Thomas was the lone Lady Rebel to score.

Union County tacked on 14 points in the second to slice into the Fannin lead. The Lady Rebels clung to a 23-22 lead at halftime.

Ledford and Davis combined for 10 points in the third with Davis scoring a three-point bucket and two-point basket, while Ledford muscled in a two-point bucket and three free throws.

York continued to be a force in the paint as she netted a two-point bucket and free throw on an and-one. Paige Foresman and Thomas scored a two-point basket each, while Olivia Sisson was able to convert two free throws to cap a 19-point third quarter for Fannin. The Panthers scored 13 points in the third as Fannin led 42-35 with one quarter to play.

Davis erupted in the fourth quarter, scoring nine points on three, three-point baskets. Prisila Bautista scored a three ball, while York made a two-point basket and converted two free throws. Union County started to trim the lead in the fourth, scoring 12-points, but the offensive output from Fannin was enough to keep the Lady Rebels in control for a 58-47 win over Union.
