Bundy signs scholarship with Liberty University

Fannin County Rebel offensive lineman Mason Bundy, a three star recruit, decided to further his academic and athletic career Wednesday, December 16, by signing a scholarship to play under Hugh Freeze at Liberty University in Lynchburg, Virginia.

Bundy played a key part in helping the Rebels to an 11-1 season, as he kept opposing defenses from getting to the Rebels quarterback. Bundy also played on the defenive line.

Fannin Rebel Head Coach Chad Cheatham said, “This is an opportunity to celebrate Mason’s career and the fact that he has committed himself to a Division One college to play the game of football at Liberty. A very prestigious Division One college. Any time a person chooses to further their education, that is a big deal, that is huge. It is a big step not only for you playing the game, but it is a big step for you getting an education. It is exciting, and it is a time to celebrate. These things do not come easy. It takes hours and hours and training, miles and miles on the road, there are no shortcuts to make this happen. You have to be all in at all times. We are extremely proud of you, you have been a tremendous asset to me and my family, and it is a great honor for me to be here with you to make this big step in your life.”

Bundy said, “I want to start off by thanking God. He blessed me with size and great parents that would take me wherever I needed to go and funded it, too. I am grateful for this community, they stood behind me this entire time, and I am proud to be a Fannin County Rebel.”

Bundy will join the Liberty Flames in the fall.
