Rebels season ends with loss to Coosa Eagles

The Fannin Rebels’ season ended in heartbreaking fashion Friday, February 12, as the Coosa Eagles got a two-point basket to drop in the final second of the game to give them a two-point lead and the win, topping the Rebels 46-44.

Kaeden Twiggs led the Rebels in the first quarter with 10 points coming off of three, two-point baskets and four free throws. Tucker Hanson was able to muscle in a two-point basket in the first quarter as well to give Fannin a 12-point first quarter. Coosa netted 14 points in the first to lead 14-12.

Twiggs tallied six points in the second, sinking two, two-point baskets and two free throws. Jordan Bennett knocked down a long-range, three-point basket, followed by Hanson netting a two-point bucket to cap an 11-point second quarter for Fannin. The Eagles scored 19 points in the second to lead 33-23 at halftime.

The Rebels defense came alive in the third quarter as the Rebels outscored the Eagles 12-4.

Twiggs rattled in eight points on three, two-point baskets and two free throws, while Dylan Collins and Landon Norton scored a two-point basket each. The Rebels shaved the Eagles lead 37-35 heading into the final quarter.

Fannin held Coosa to nine points in the fourth quarter as Norton heated up, knocking down a long-range three-ball and a two point basket for five points. Twiggs and Collins scored a two-point bucket each as the Rebels were able to tie the game late at 44-44. The Eagles managed to net a two-point basket with time winding down, and the Rebels could not score again as their season ended with a hard-fought 46-44 loss to Coosa.
