Rebels roll over Murray in double header

The Rebels’ baseball team was back in action Saturday, March 18 as they defeated Murray County in a double header, 12-1 and 10-2.

During the first game, Bryson Holloway, Carson Callihan and Conner Martin started the offensive momentum with runs in the first inning.

Murray answered in the second with a run of their own, but the Rebels fought back. Callihan tripled sending Bryce Burnette and Holloway back home again for a two point play. Callihan scored himself on Martin’s line drive.

Holloway followed with a triple of his own to send Colton Gray and Clay Heaton to home plate. Holloway went on to score from Gaige Foster’s single. The Indians weren’t able to find a run.

The Rebels broke double digits as Heaton doubled and sent Carter Fox back home. Heaton scored from Callihan’s hit then Burnette added another point putting the Rebels up 12-1.

The rest of the game was a battle in the outfield as neither team gave up a run. The Rebels took the 12-1 victory and headed into the second game of the day.

During the second game, the Rebels picked up right where they left off as Holloway scored in the first inning. The second was an inning of three quick outs for both teams as they battled on the mound and in the outfield. Fannin was able to find a run in the third when Foster  rounded home plate from Gray’s at bat. Heaton’s grounder sent Martin and Hayden Danner’s courtesy runner, Elijah Weaver, both home. Heaton scored for himself as Holloway grounded to left field. Paul Stroemer scored the last run of the third as the Rebels took a 6-0 lead.

The fourth went scoreless, but in the fifth, Callihan hit an “in-the-park” home run that sent him, Heaton and Holloway all to home plate and tallied the score up to 9-0.

Murray added their first and last two runs of the game during the sixth. Tucker Dockery’s grounder sent Beavers home making the final score 10-2.
