Rebels dominate Gilmer Bobcats in 7-1 decision

The Rebels baseball team dominated the Gilmer County Bobcats 7-1, Monday, March 6.

Bristol Hughes started on the mound for Fannin. During the first inning, the Rebels found three quick outs. Then, Carson Callihan doubled on a fly ball followed by Gaige Foster’s single. Conner Martin made a hit to send Callihan home, but Martin was caught out.

The second went scoreless for both teams until the bottom of their third when Callihan doubled again and Martin sent him home for a 2-0 score to start the fourth.

The Rebels exchanged Hughes for Colton Gray at pitcher. Gray struck out three batter’s but not before one Bobcat found home plate.

Clay Heaton was walked and Callihan singled to send him home after a stolen base. Then, Callihan scored himself putting the score up to 4-1 as the fifth  inning began.

The fifth was a scoreless inning for the Bobcats, but the Rebels scored as Hayden Danner made a hit and his courtsey runner Elijah Weaver found home plate before three outs.

Fannin earned the next two runs in the bottom of the sixth. Callihan singled, Foster doubled, and Martin sent Callihan home. Foster  also made it home when Christian Beavers made a hit to center field making the final score 7-1.
