FANNIN COUNTY SPORTS HALL OF FAME

By Mike Harper West Fannin High School first opened its doors to students in the autumn of 1955. The school fielded the first football team in the history of Fannin County athletics that same year.
These members of the Fannin County High School Rebels Track & Field team were honored for maintaining a 3.5 grade point average or higher. Accepting their certificates at the team’s recent banquet were, from left, Aiden Jones, Henry Schueneman, Cayden Reece, Braxton Cheatham, Jacob Dye, Luke Holsonback, Conrad Head, Cooper Born, Ryan Preston, Lawson Sullivan, C.J. Reece, Isaac Watkins, and Baron Davenport.

Track & Field honors presented

The Spring 2025 Fannin County High School Rebel and Lady Rebel Track & Field teams had their banquet on Wednesday, May 21, at Watkins Barn & Venue.
The Fannin County High School Rebel golf team has been recognized for its much improved season, the boys and girls teams winning a total of 13 matches combined. Members of the team were, from left, front, Kyla Keener, Keira Barber, Olivia Ford, Annabelle Anderson, and Blair Deal; and, back, Marshall McDaniel, Archer Twiggs, Case Holloway, Cannon Holloway, Jack Sparks, Noah Burnette, Gavin Jensen, Hudson Ethington, Eli Plush, and Bryson Mitchell.

Golf team recognized following successful season

For the Fannin County High School Rebels golf teams, this year saw much improvement, coach Wade Woodall said. “I couldn’t be prouder of this group of girls and guys with their success this season,” he said by email. The Lady Rebels team won eight matches, finishing fifth in the area tournament.

With the tennis season at an end, it was time for the Rebels to celebrate their achievements at a Sunday, May 18 banquet. Coach Suzianne Pass had many achievements to recognize.
