Track & Field honors presented

The Spring 2025 Fannin County High School Rebel and Lady Rebel Track & Field teams had their banquet on Wednesday, May 21, at Watkins Barn & Venue.
The Fannin County High School Rebel golf team has been recognized for its much improved season, the boys and girls teams winning a total of 13 matches combined. Members of the team were, from left, front, Kyla Keener, Keira Barber, Olivia Ford, Annabelle Anderson, and Blair Deal; and, back, Marshall McDaniel, Archer Twiggs, Case Holloway, Cannon Holloway, Jack Sparks, Noah Burnette, Gavin Jensen, Hudson Ethington, Eli Plush, and Bryson Mitchell.

Golf team recognized following successful season

For the Fannin County High School Rebels golf teams, this year saw much improvement, coach Wade Woodall said. “I couldn’t be prouder of this group of girls and guys with their success this season,” he said by email. The Lady Rebels team won eight matches, finishing fifth in the area tournament.

With the tennis season at an end, it was time for the Rebels to celebrate their achievements at a Sunday, May 18 banquet. Coach Suzianne Pass had many achievements to recognize.

Three continue careers

Three senior members of this year’s Fannin County High School Rebels baseball team have signed letters of intent to continue their athletic and academic career. Gavin Davis is headed to Union Commonwealth University, and Colton Gray and Bristol Hughes to Truett McConnell University.

Rebel baseball team celebrates

The Fannin County Rebels celebrated a great season of baseball at their May 16 banquet. For the team’s many seniors, the banquet’s awards celebrated the end of a season with a 20-13 record and end in the Sweet 16. On average, the whole team batted .

FCHS soccer players receive awards

The Fannin County High School boys and girls soccer banquet on May 14 had much to celebrate this season. The boys team made it to the Final Four round of playoffs, finishing fifth in region. The girls team made it to the first round of playoffs, finishing third in region.
The new gym on the Fannin County High School campus will be named the Coach Johnny Farmer Gymnasium. The announcement came during the May 8 meeting of the Board of Education. FCHS gym to be named for Johnny Farmer

The Fannin County High School (FCHS) new gym will be officially renamed the Coach Johnny Farmer Gymnasium in honor of retired basketball coach, Johnny Farmer. The renaming was announced at the Board of Education meeting on May 8 where Farmer was honored along with FCHS alumni that played for him.

Rebels head to Final Four

The Fannin County Rebels played a hard fought Elite Eight soccer game against Dalton Academy May 6, capturing a win to advance to the Final Four of the State Championships. Many team members bleached their hair for the championship.

Cheatham wins state title, team seventh overall

Braxton Cheatham came away from the Georgia High School Association 1A Division 1 State Track and Field Championships with a first place and a total of four medals. Overall, the Fannin County High School team placed seventh out of over 50 teams competing at Barron Stadium in Rome May 9 and 10.
