This summer 17 students from Fannin County Middle and High School FFA Chapters attended a Summer Leadership Camp (SLC) at the Georgia FFA-FCCLA Center in Covington, on the banks of Jackson Lake. Summer Leadership Camp is open to FFA and FCCLA students from all over the state of Georgia.
“You’ll never be judged when you come to the sheriff’s office. We’re here to help you. And if you don’t want to come to us, call and a deputy will come to you,” Davenport said.

The Fannin County Sheriff’s Office has added a new weapon to its arsenal as it works to fight the scam artists that prey on area residents. Investigations Sergeant J.K. Davenport talked about the Electronic Recovery and Access to Data (ERAD) computer system last week.

Three men living in Blue Ridge shared a 99th birthday party June 17 at Blue Ridge Assisted Living, but that’s not all they share with each other. Amongst them are bravery, strength, and resilience. Joel (Hatch) Hatchell, Bill Langford, and John Lindsay all fought for our country in World War II.

Fannin County Public Library doubled as a petting zoo on Wednesday, June 12 when several animals were brought in for the children to learn about and even pet. Roy from ZooPro Adventures hosted the exciting event.

North Georgia Technical College Fannin Literacy Action Group (NGTC/FLAG) held an event to honor their tutors who have volunteered their time to help others. Board members and tutors gathered on Thursday, June 13, to enjoy lunch together and reminisce on their time with FLAG.
The Fannin County School System honored Martha Williams for her hours of hard work and dedication to the Community Eligibility Provision program. Members of the Fannin County Senior Center shared memories laughter, and tears with one another as they dedicated the Memory Garden to the seniors who has passed since March of 2020. Many said kind words of their friends and loved ones.
Anna Minear and James Hyatt read their essays to members of the Fannin County Republican Party gathered for a Monday night meeting June 10. Their essays, along with one written by Sydney Chancey, were judged as the top three of those submitted. Students wrote on the topic of Congressional term limits and included their own opinions on the subject.
