Junior Dillinger comes out on top in annual school system bus rod-eo

Fannin County School System (FCSS) bus drivers showed off their skills at the annual FCSS Bus Rod-eo. Before the competition started, drivers were driven through the obstacle course filled with different challenges they must complete.
Students from Fannin County Middle School, from left, Keagan Massey, Lauren Waters, and Mackenzie Duvall passed out Milkweed plants to all who showed up for the Fannin County Chamber of Commerce & CVB event. The free milkweed day was part of the Chamber’s Lights Off, Fireflies On project to protect the natural beauty of summer evenings in Fannin County when fireflies light up the night sky. Milkweed protects fireflies from predators.

Free milkweed aimed at helping protect fireflies

The night sky will sparkle with fireflies in Fannin County this summer. On May 10, the Fannin County Chamber of Commerce hosted Lights Off, Fireflies On, Milkweed Day.

Volunteers donate 26 years

Twelve Pink Ladies at Blue Ridge Medical Center were honored for a combined 54,274 hours of volunteer service at their quarterly meeting last week.

Horseshoe Bend site of Arbor Day event

The Fannin County Chamber of Commerce & CVB, local students, and Noontootla Creek Farms partnered last week to enhance the local ecosystem through an Arbor Day tree planting in Mineral Bluff.

Frog Bog celebrated at West Fannin Elementary

By Bobbi Pippin The first and second graders have opened up an exciting new addition to West Fannin Elementary School, the Frog Bog. Second graders, Autumn Blomeley and Ryley Thomas hosted the grand opening and thanked everyone for their contributions.
For the educational technology, there is a new audio and camera system for teachers to utilize to help with their lessons. If a student is sick, the teacher can record the lesson on the classroom camera and have it available for that student.
