  • The Humane Society of Blue Ridge cat of the week is Tigger. This two-year-old quiet and charming little fellow has bright green eyes and a beautiful gray coat. Tigger is shy at first, but once he feels safe with you, he is so loving. Tigger prefers a more relaxed environment and would be an ideal companion for a patient and calm owner. He is allergic to flea bites and needs to be an indoor-only cat. Contact the Adoption Center at 706-632-4357 to schedule a meet and greet. He is neutered and microchipped.

    With summer just around the corner, stop by Fannin County Animal Control to find that sweet, fur-ever companion you have been looking for to spend the longer days and warmer nights with.

    This past week, 12 dogs were taken in and under animal control care, one dog was taken in by Golden Retriever Rescue, four dogs were reclaimed by their owners, one dog was adopted, one dog was taken by the Humane Society of Blue Ridge, and one dog was taken in by Homeward Bound.

    Volunteers are welcome to visit, walk and play with the dogs at the facility during business hours.

    The animal control facility is open to the public Monday through Saturday from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.

    After those hours, officers follow up on community concerns and respond to stray calls.

    To reclaim dogs, their owners must show proof of up-to-date rabies vaccination or pay to have them vaccinated.
