Mary Patricia Davenport, better known as “Patty,” age 63, passed away June 12, 2021, following a brief illness.

Patty was a life-long resident of Marietta, Georgia, and attended a Center for Special Needs. She was a kind soul, but didn’t hesitate to let her dislikes be known. She didn’t like marshmallows or meringue, nor was she fond of animals. She especially enjoyed swinging on the porch at the mountain house and rocking when it wasn’t porch weather.

One of her brother’s favorite memories was how much she loved riding the Dahlonega Mine Train at Six Flags. She loved music and knew the words to sing along to many songs. Her favorite gift was to receive a bottle of fingernail polish. Patty will be greatly missed.

Survivors include her loving parents, Ruth Wise Davenport and Tifton Davenport of Marietta; sister-in-law, Laura Davenport of Roswell, Georgia; and nieces, Corinne and Camille Davenport also of Roswell. She was preceded in death by her brother, Larry Davenport. She also leaves behind many uncles, aunts, cousins and a host of other relatives and friends.

Funeral services were conducted Saturday, June 19, 2021, at 2 p.m. from the Akins Funeral Home Chapel with Reverend David Wilson officiating.

Interment followed in the Hemptown Baptist Church Cemetery. Pallbearers were Emory Schroeter, Jeff Jones, Samson Skidmore, Shepherd Skidmore, Hunter Griffin and Robert Panter.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Hemptown Baptist Church Cemetery Fund c/o Damon Davenport at 10623 Old Highway 76, Morganton, Georgia, 30513.

Condolences may be sent to the family online at www.akinsfuneralhome.com.
