Georgia DNR warns public of fake fishing license websites

The Georgia Department of Natural Resources Law Enforcement Division has discovered a scam license website. This site appears to be active in both North Georgia and on the coast. This scam website appears as an advertisement during a Google Search for “Georgia Fishing License.

Fannin overpowers Southeast Whitfield

The Fannin County Lady Rebels traveled to Southeast Whitfield Saturday, January 25, to take on the Lady Raiders. The Lady Rebels played great, dominating the Lady Raiders 57-27. The Lady Rebels made a statement in the first quarter, blazing the net for 23 points.

Gailey claims Chattanooga tennis title

Jacob Gailey, of Mineral Bluff, has competed in many United States Tennis Association tournaments over the past couple of years and continues to climb in the junior tennis rankings. Gailey’s most recent tournament was the Boys’ 18 Singles tournament, held in Chattanooga, Tennessee, January 18-19.

Lady Rebels top Lady Bears

The Fannin County Lady Rebels basketball team traveled to Cherokee Bluff Tuesday, January 21, for a region rumble. The Lady Rebels played well and dominated all four quarters to churn out a 69-38 win over the Lady Bears.

Rebel wrestling dominates Union on senior night

The Fannin County Rebels wrestling team hosted the Union County Panthers Tuesday, January 21. For the Rebels, it was the last home game of the wrestling season and eight seniors were honored before the match.

Hyde’s 11-points not enough in North Hall loss

The Fannin County Rebels basketball team hosted region rival the North Hall Trojans Tuesday, January 14. The Rebels played a well rounded game, but North Hall was able to win the game with a 21-point third quarter as they topped Fannin 60-32.

Nine crowned District Free Throw Champions

Four girls and five boys from the Fannin County and Polk County communities have earned the distinction of district champions in the 2019/20 Knights of Columbus state-wide Free Throw Championship. This contest is offered to children ranging in age from nine to 14 years old.

Lady Indians top FCMS Lady Rebels

The Fannin County Middle School eighth grade Lady Rebels basketball team hosted the Lumpkin County Lady Indians Thursday, January 16. Fannin and Lumpkin battled back and forth most of the game, but the Lady Indians were able to close out a 58-40 win over the Lady Rebels in the final quarter.

Cougars top Hiwassee Dam in three-overtime thriller

The Copper Basin Cougars basketball team hosted the Hiwassee Dam Eagles Friday, January 17. The fans got their money’s worth as the Cougars and Eagles slugged it out in regulation and three periods in overtime, until a victor was decided.

Grabowski, Mickens named to All-State team

The Copper Basin Cougars football team recently had two players named to the 1A All-State team. Junior quarterback Bryson Grabowski and senior wideout Chase Mickens received the honor, after helping the Cougars to a 6-5 season, going 3-1 in region play.
