Fannin overpowers Southeast Whitfield

The Fannin County Lady Rebels traveled to Southeast Whitfield Saturday, January 25, to take on the Lady Raiders. The Lady Rebels played great, dominating the Lady Raiders 57-27.

The Lady Rebels made a statement in the first quarter, blazing the net for 23 points. Becca Ledford and Morgan Holt combined for 12 points, with Ledford scoring three, two-point buckets and Holt netted two, three-point baskets from deep.

Natalie Thomas drained a long range three ball and a two-point basket, while Reagan York worked the paint for a two-point basket and two free throws. Saidee Collins capped the scoring for the Lady Rebels in the first with a two-point bucket as Fannin outscored the Lady Raiders 23-9 for a big lead.

The Lady Rebels scored eight points in the second quarter with Ledford rattling in two, two-point buckets. Collins scored three points on a two-point basket and a free throw, while Mackenzie Johnson converted a free throw. Southeast Whitfield was able to match the Lady Rebels score as both teams tallied eight points in the second to give the Lady Rebels a 31-14 lead.

Fannin County scored 17 points in the third quarter, with Ledford and York leading the way combining for 10 points. Ledford scored on a three ball and two-point basket, while York worked the paint to churn out two, two-point buckets and a free throw. Thomas netted a three-point bucket while Holt and Collins scored two points each in the third.

Fannin outscored the Lady Raiders 17-6 in the third to lead 48-23 to start the fourth quarter. The Lady Rebels were able to hold off the Lady Raiders in the fourth outscoring them 9-4.

Jenna Young rattled in a three ball, followed by Paige Foresman and Holt knocking in a two-point basket each.Thomas and York converted a free throw each as well to hold off the Raiders as Fannin won the game 57-27.
