Morgan Holt signs to play with University of North Georgia

Fannin County Lady Rebel basketball player Morgan Holt recently chose to further her athletic and academic career by signing a scholarship with the University of North Georgia (UNG). Holt was a key part in the Lady Rebels’ offense for the past four seasons, proving to be a clutch scorer.

Fannin County Recreation Center officially open

The Fannin County Recreation Department re-opened its doors Monday, May 4, to a limited number of people from the Fannin and Polk County areas. Recreation Department Director Eddie O’Neal said, “Phase one of the re-open is going great, we are very pleased.

Brook Patton signs with Piedmont College

Fannin County senior Lady Rebel Brook Patton recently chose to further her academic and athletic career by signing a scholarship to play tennis at Piedmont College. She will be pursuing a  major in biology in order to achieve a lifelong dream of going into the dental field.

Rules in place as rec. department re-opens

The Fannin County Recreation Department re-opened May 4, at 8 a.m. Recreation Director Eddie O’Neal explained the hours and rules the center will be operating under last week. The hours will be Monday-Friday 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., Saturdays 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. and Sundays 12 p.m. to 4 p.m.

High School sports is an important part of any community. The amount of support  Fannin County High School gets from the community is almost unmatched. However, due to the current pandemic, Georgia Governor Brian Kemp has ordered all campuses close the remainder of the school year.
