Cantrell honored at CBHS

Larry Cantrell was recognized as a Legend of the Game by the Copper Basin Alumni Association during the Cougars basketball contest against Lookout Valley. Cantrell, a 1965 graduate of Copper Basin, is crediting with having starred on the court for the Cougars for three straight seasons.

North Murray last to fall

The Fannin County High School Lady Rebels took a 42-35 road win over North Murray Saturday, February 10, to end regular season play. The Lady Rebels trailed by as many as 11 points before rallying back into the game trailing 22-13 at halftime.

Winners told in Knights tourney

The Blue Ridge Knights of Columbus held the 2024 District Free Throw Championship at the Fannin County Recreation Center Saturday, January 20. A total of 59 participants competed in eleven age and gender categories, with the winners qualifying for the Georgia state competition in March.

Rockmart falls to Lady Rebels

The Fannin County High School Lady Rebels brought home a 60-41 win over Rockmart Tuesday, January 30. Senior Courtney Davis led Fannin with 13 points. The Lady Rebels got out to a 25-18 lead at halftime before closing out the victory. Fannin controlled the paint, grabbing 38 rebounds.

Cougars defeat MACA

The Copper Basin Cougars hit the road and stepped out of district basketball play to take on Mountain Area Christian Academy  (MACA) Thursday, January 25. The Cougars took control early in the opening quarter and led throughout, leaving with a 63-43 win.

Coach Chastain honored for 100th win

Fannin County Lady Rebels head coach Ryan Chastain had the look of complete surprise on his face Saturday afternoon, January 27, when Athletic Director Shannon York pointed him to the center of the basketball court.

Fannin County High School flag football standouts honored at banquet

The Fannin County Lady Rebel Flag Football team held their first ever banquet Wednesday, January 17. Head Coach Noah O’Neal guided the Lady Rebels to their historic first year that will hopefully keep the sport continuing to grow in the future.

Rebels roll over Haralson 77-44

Fannin County’s Rebels moved into second place in Region 7AA basketball standings Saturday, January 6, with a lopsided 77-44 win over region for Haralson. Aided by Rockmart’s defeat of North Murray, Fannin’s 4-1 region record equals those of Model and Rockmart.

Hawkins’ free throw seals 48-47 win for Lady Rebels

Macy Hawkins stood at the foul line with four tenths of a second left on the clock at Union County High School in Blairsville Saturday afternoon. Looming high above her was the scoreboard showing the 47-47 tie between Fannin County’s Lady Rebels and their hosts, the Lady Panthers.
