Fannin County High School flag football standouts honored at banquet

The Fannin County Lady Rebel Flag Football team held their first ever banquet Wednesday, January 17. Head Coach Noah O’Neal guided the Lady Rebels to their historic first year that will hopefully keep the sport continuing to grow in the future.

Players were recognized for individual achievement for the 2023 season.

Taking home the award for the Offensive player of the year was Caylee Gaddis. On the defensive side of the ball, Bridgett Allen took home the award for the Defensive Player of the Year. The overall  Player of the year award went to Stephanie Kirk, who also picked up the award for 1st Team All Area. The Coaches Award went to  Addison Smith and the Character Award was won by Anna Beth Minear. Winning the Newcomer Award was Leia Crawford and the winner of the Trailblazer Award was Jayden Bailey.

“It was a joy to get to be apart of a new sport and watch our team grow and compete so well against some of the largest schools in the state. I am so proud of our girls and hard work they put in. I’m grateful to be part of a school and community where our team was supported from the school board, district staff, and administration, to our parents and local businesses. Their collective efforts provided our girls with the wonderful opportunity to play football,” O’Neal said.
