The Fannin County High School weightlifting team earned the title of State Runner-Up at the State Weightlifting Competition Saturday, March 2, as all 13 members placed within the top six.

Rebel weightlifters state Runner-Up

The Fannin County High School weightlifting team earned the title of State Runner-Up at the State Weightlifting Competition Saturday, March 2, as all 13 members placed within the top six.
Anita Navas remains in Vanderbilt Hospital in Nashville, having lost both her legs. A March 16 fun run/walk will be held with proceeds benefiting her and her family.

March 16 fun run/walk to benefit girl’s family

Anita Navas nor her family expected she would begin a fight for her life this past Christmas, but that happened and she is still fighting today from a bed at Vanderbilt Hospital Nashville.

Lady Cougars win District Championship

The Copper Basin Lady Cougars looked to cap off their great 2023-2024 season, as they hosted Sale Creek for the District 5-A Tournament Championship Tuesday, February 20 at Copper Basin High School.

Lady Rebels easily advanced to Sweet 16

The Fannin County Varsity Lady Rebels rolled past North Cobb Christian, 65-37, Tuesday, February 20, to advance to the Sweet Sixteen in the Georgia High School Association basketball state playoffs.

Cantrell honored at CBHS

Larry Cantrell was recognized as a Legend of the Game by the Copper Basin Alumni Association during the Cougars basketball contest against Lookout Valley. Cantrell, a 1965 graduate of Copper Basin, is crediting with having starred on the court for the Cougars for three straight seasons.

North Murray last to fall

The Fannin County High School Lady Rebels took a 42-35 road win over North Murray Saturday, February 10, to end regular season play. The Lady Rebels trailed by as many as 11 points before rallying back into the game trailing 22-13 at halftime.

Winners told in Knights tourney

The Blue Ridge Knights of Columbus held the 2024 District Free Throw Championship at the Fannin County Recreation Center Saturday, January 20. A total of 59 participants competed in eleven age and gender categories, with the winners qualifying for the Georgia state competition in March.
Callie Ensley took a hard foul as she went for two points for the Lady Rebels Earlier this season. She scored three points in the win over Rockmart.

Rockmart falls to Lady Rebels

The Fannin County High School Lady Rebels brought home a 60-41 win over Rockmart Tuesday, January 30. Senior Courtney Davis led Fannin with 13 points. The Lady Rebels got out to a 25-18 lead at halftime before closing out the victory. Fannin controlled the paint, grabbing 38 rebounds.
